Belt pulling is a very efficient method for gentle counterclockwise rotation of the maxilla, yielding quicker results. Rotating the maxilla counterclockwise subsequently lifts the midface and advances the mandible, resulting in a decreased midface height and increased lower third facial height. This is advantageous for patients with malocclusions. Results are further enhanced with proper tongue posture to stabilize them, as with other methods such as inter-oral face pulling, thumb pulling, zygopulling, and towel pulling.
Step 1: Strap a belt onto an object such as a pull-up bar, ensuring the strap is at mouth level or a bit above it; position the belt at the back of your mouth. Engage the strap with your palate.
Step 2: Bite onto the strap and tuck your chin. While clasping your head at the back, you should be in the chin tuck position. Allow your body to drop while still maintaining the chin tuck and bite. In this position, your maxilla will be pushed up by the strap. Pressure will be put on the cheekbones and masseters. Hold for twenty seconds. Support your weight with the strap, ensuring that both you and the strap may have full range of motion; as your weight drops down, the strap must be maintained straight.
Tip: In order to facilitate the dropping motion, tucking the chin and engaging in the belt should be done while standing on the toes
.Step 3: Integrate belt pulling with mewing and other methods that assist in maxilla expansion. Do it weekly, completing 3-4 sets of 20-25 seconds each.
If you're under 15 and your skull is still developing, it's best not to attempt it yet, as it could interfere with the natural growth and structure of your skull.
